As we head into July/August and the temps stay consistently around or above 30 degrees your lawn, trees and plants might be feeling pretty thirsty! Did you know that the Region of Waterloo and Brant County both have water conservation bylaws that dictate your outdoor water use?


Remember, the first impression that buyers have when visiting your home is crucial to how they’re going to approach the rest of the showing so ensuring a nicely kept lawn, flower beds and/or garden are critical even on this hot days.

Vegetable and flower gardens may be watered by hand using a watering can on any day, at any time.
In addition to the watering times described above, watering is permitted for:
Newly planted sod, trees, ornamental shrubs and flower gardens while being installed and during the 24 hours after completion of the installation; and
Lawns being treated with pesticide, herbicide spray or fertilizer which requires water while being treated and during the following 24 hours after the application.

Lawn watering must take place on your assigned day from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Addresses ending with a:
0 or 1 water lawns on Mondays
2 or 3 water lawns on Tuesdays
4 or 5 water lawns on Wednesdays
6 or 7 water lawns on Thursdays
8 or 9 water lawns on Fridays
Watering times for other outdoor activities
Your assigned day for outdoor watering excluding lawn water is based on the last digit of your address.
Odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered days
Even-numbered addresses water on even-numbered days
Watering must take place between 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
